Virginia Beach

We had a nice vacation this year in VA beach. The weather was perfect all week. We stayed in a house right on the beach with our family. How nice it was to wake up, have a little breakfast, and take a walk on the beach. We also had a pool at the house and I'm so glad that we did. The ocean water was COLD! The water warmed up throughout the week, but the first couple of days, WOW! The water was so cold that it actually hurt your skin.

Mason had a BALL. He loved everything. He was not afraid of the water at all. He seemed to be more interested in walking the beach and picking up shells, than actually getting in the water. He played in the sand too! We loved watching him have fun.

This is the first time Mason felt the Ocean water and sand.

Who needs the lifeguards when I have this to look at? What a little cutie!!

We chose the perfect time to visit. Just before Memorial Day. There was not a crowd just yet. It was nice to be able to set up our umbrellas right in front of the house.

Mason loves the pool too, just as much as Kevin and myself. He loved his little car float that Daddy got for him. He was a bit nervous getting out of the float and would hang on tight to Daddy. He would say "I got you!"

We hope to visit another beach before the summer is out. As much as we all love the water, it would be a shame to miss out.

Beach bound

For the past few weeks, we have been getting ready for our beach trip. Stocking up on diapers, buying extra food to take, paper products, water, sunscreen, beach towels, beach toys, etc. Since we'll be at a house, we have to stock those items ourselves which is fine with us. We'll have front row access to the beach and our own private pool. We are so excited and I hope that we have great weather and everyone stays healthy.

Amongst getting ready for the beach, we have also been busy with our yard work and preparing for Mason's 2nd birthday party. Nothing like having 15 things to do at one time. I really don't know how I did all of this when I was working outside of the home. Of course, then, we didn't have Mason.

We have been so busy that we didn't have time to take Mason for another haircut, so we just did it ourselves. Actually, Daddy cut his hair and I must say, he did a great job. Mason didn't mind to much either.

Kevin's Barber Shop (aka our back porch)

Mason and I are feeling much better too. Both of us have been home bound (and inside) for a few days. Apparently, both of us have bad allergies to trees, grass, and weeds. We both started taking Allegra and now we feel much better. I, actually, was feeling so bad, that I went to the doctor thinking that my thyroid was off again, and it may be, I don't have the results back. As it turns out, the doctor did an allergy test and WOW! I think I'm allergic to every tree, weed, and most grass. My biggest problem was ragweed and at our new house we have a ton of it beside our house in a ditch. I guess this is why I haven't been affected as much before now. So, I'll be taking allergy shots every week starting when we get back from vacation.

Happy Mother's Day

It's still hard for me to believe that I'm a Mom, Mother, Mommy, Mama, whatever Mason calls me. I'm just glad to be one to the sweetest little boy (most of the time). I have definitely been blessed with a wonderful child. It makes me scared to have another one. HA!

Me and Mom 2009

I had a wonderful weekend. Kevin did everything from cooking, laundry, changing diapers, yard work, etc. I was able to take a nap, enjoy a bath, and spend a relaxing weekend with my boys. I even got a gift. I new phone that is also an mp3 player with wireless speakers. Very neat. I can listen to music where ever I choose to in the house or outside. We'll be able to take it to the beach with us too! I have a feeling Kevin will be using it as much as me, but that's ok. :)

2010 (I hate my hair)

Thank you to my husband for making my weekend perfect.

The construction begins

This past weekend was a weekend of work. LOTS and LOTS of work. We have begun the construction of Mason's swing set. Well, it started out as just a swing set and now we are planning to include a sandbox and picnic table as well. We have plenty of room in our backyard and I think Mason will really enjoy this area for years to come. I didn't have a hand in putting together the swing set, but I was in the kitchen or laundry room the whole weekend. Jeez! I'm tired!! We sure do appreciate those who helped us. I, especially know Kevin is very appreciative. He would have been out there for days.

Kevin and I marked the yard off first with yellow flags.

Then we added the outline of the play area with landscape timbers.

Let the construction begin. Kevin, Papa, and Grandpa Mike started their 2 day construction party. Yes! 2 days!!

Mason had fun playing in the dirt and riding around on the cardboard box.

Someone (Lori) was sneaky and took this picture of Mason wearing Uncle James' UNC hat.

Before heading to Mississippi for the tornado damage, my Dad was able to stop in for a visit.

And finally, Mason was able to get in a swing with Papa before they headed back to Greensboro.

I just realized that I don't have a finished picture of the swing set. I'll post one soon. We're hoping to get some mulch with in the next few days and we'll also set up the sandbox. So far, Mason is loving the slide. He says "swide" and "wing". So cute!!
