Oh my, what a face!

This is the face that I see several times a day. For some reason, with in the last 2 months, Mason has really started to show his frustration in an UGLY fashion. This is what he does to me if I have said no or made him do something that he doesn't want to do.

WOW! Is this normal? I'm sure it probably is, at this age. As toddlers, the speech isn't developed enough for them to vocalize their anger, so they SCREAM! I'm assuming this is the case; Otherwise, Kevin and I are in for a wake up call. Now, don't get me wrong, Mason isn't like this all day, but on several occasions during the day, this is what I see. During this time I try to ignore him or get down to his level and firmly say NO.

If you have had this happen to you, please leave a comment with what you did to handle the situation. I'm always up for suggestions. :)

We still love you Mason, but WHAT A FACE!!

Mason's new friend

Mason had his first official play date today with his new friend, Chase. I think we both had a great time. It is so nice to get out of the house even if it is only for a couple of hours. It really helps break up the day and the "same ole" routine.

So, we met Chase when his parents bought our house. That's right. We sold our house and met new friends. Funny how things happen. As it turns out, we had a package that was delivered to our old address. When we met with the Bogarts to get our package, the boys (Mason and Chase) had such a good time playing together that we decided to start meeting once a week.

While we were there today we saw Mrs. Sandy, Mason's first teacher. She kept Mason for about 8 months for us while I continued to work. She said it brought a tear to her eye to see him and how much he's grown. How they grow so fast!!

I hope that we'll see our other (old) neighbors as well through our play dates. We haven't seen some of them since our move, which really hasn't been that long ago, but it's so nice to catch up with folks. We sometimes get so busy in our lives that we're not able to keep up with
everyone.

It sure is nice to meet new friends and see old friends.

My Valentine

Kevin and I were able to have a quiet Valentine date all to ourselves. Grammy and Grandpa were nice enough to keep Mason for us (I'm sure they hated it). We went to a movie, and dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. YUMMY! Not just the cheesecake, but the entire meal was so good. We had a good time with each other. It's nice to have just "us time" every once in a while.

Looking back

I recently look back at pictures of Mason. I love to see the changes in him. Since I see him everyday, I don't notice all of the little changes. He is now a little boy and not a baby. He still has a lot of baby features, which I love, but he really looks like a toddler. I know. He is 20 months old now, but as a Mommy, you want to keep them babies forever.

I so miss those days. It seemed so much easier then (even though I didn't think so at the time). I could actually take a shower with him in the bouncy seat. Not anymore. What I miss most is holding him while he falls asleep, feeding him and as painful as it was, I miss nursing him. Seeing him crawl or just rolling around on the floor. So cute.

But now..... I love hearing him talk, learning new words everyday. I love to hear him laugh and seeing him smile. I love to sit in the floor and play with him. I love how he walks up to me and reaches up for me to hold him. I love hearing Mommy! He is such a good boy and I love him so. He's my Valentine! :)

Random photos

Mason was pooped from his trip back home from Greensboro. This is the day after Christmas. We are on our way home in the snow.

Mason is helping Daddy with the laundry!

Grammy is still washing Mason in the kitchen sink. Look at that face.

Smart boy!

I'm so amazed at Mason's vocabulary. The doctor said between the ages of 18 and 24 months, the vocabulary takes off. WOW! He was surely right. EVERYDAY Mason says a new word. He'll repeat words to you, but he also recognizes objects from TV or pictures. Daddy made waffles yesterday morning. When the waffles are done, the machines gives a beeping noise. Mason is in his highchair waiting and he starts saying "beep, beep". Too cute!!

Some of his words are:
Ball
Car
Beep
Daddy
Mommy
Outside
Cupcake
Cookie
Papa
Night, night
Bye

And the list continues......

I'm so thankful that he picks up things so quickly. Being a first time Mom, you don't always know what to expect and sometimes when you compare to others you may not be satisfied with the results. No matter what, I'll always think that my child is smart. I'm so proud of you Mason!!
