Under Construction: "The Playroom"

Kevin and I decided that we will "need" a playroom downstairs since that is where we are most of the time. We are hoping that toys will stay in that one particular room and not all over the house. Yeah, right! I guess we should have had a playroom for Bailey too! :)

So, now we (Kevin) have/has another room to paint. We think we will paint this room a neutral color. Maybe taupe or a darker tan color. This way if we ever need to change the decor', it will not be too hard. Kevin has been busy sanding another changing table, getting it ready to be painted. We thought it would be a good idea to have an area to change Mason with out having to go up and down the stairs. Kevin has also refinished my table and chairs that I had as a little girl. It sounds like Kevin has been doing all of the work. I promise I have been doing things as well. It takes a lot of energy to go shopping. Just kidding. We have done all of the shopping together which has made this experience much more special. We have picked out all of the decorations together and pretty much agreed on everything. Unless Kevin is just agreeing with me, but I don't think so. He has learned to speak up now. As a matter of fact, I left picking out the glider and ottoman to him and we picked it up last Friday evening. I felt pretty bad. We got it home. Kevin put it together. We sat in it.... and then said "I don't like it". So, back to Wal-Mart we went. It wasn't comfortable at all. Oh well! At least we have time to pick out something else.

Stay tuned to see updated pictures of the finished nursery and playroom. We have been working really hard and I know both rooms will be adorable. We can't wait for Mason (and us) to enjoy them.

We bought these pictures from Babies R Us. I thought they were too cute and match the rug very well. We're not sure yet where we are hanging them.

Of course, we still need to paint and put up a valance over the window.

My table and chairs that Kevin re-finished. He did a great job.

Under Construction "The Nursery"

We have been busy lately shopping, decorating, painting, etc. This past weekend was our first weekend in town so we picked out our nursery paint. Kevin painted the nursery on Sunday and it looks great. It is hard to tell the color from the pictures, but the name is desert palm. A light green, which matches our theme (MiGi Splash) perfect. We have a few more pictures to hang and we are waiting for the glider to be delivered. The room actually looks like a nursery now. Last night, after the paint dried, Kevin and I stood in the room looking around thinking, now it looks like we're having a baby. Even though it's a bit small, I love the room and I know we'll enjoy every minute of it too. We'll post more pictures once the room is complete.

Bailey, of course, had to be in the picture too.

21 Week Check Up

I had a check up this morning. Everything is looking great and as the doctor said "normal". He checked Mason's heart beat and as usual he was moving around a lot. The doctor said the heart beat sounded great. The measurement of my tummy was good and I've now gained 5 lbs. so I guess there is no turning back. It's up hill from here. :) Literally!! Although, at this point someone would have to push me up hill. My next check up will consist of a sugar test to check for gestational diabetes, however, I feel good and there is no indication that I will test positive. Before going in to the office, I have to drink this syrupy fruit punch drink and then have my blood drawn. That's it.

Shopping

Over the weekend we visited Nana and Papa (Don and Phyllis) and went shopping, shopping, and more shopping. We got the crib mattress, 2 changing table pads, a car seat, a travel system (includes another car seat and stroller), another changing table and Nana had bought Mason several adorable outfits. He will be the cutest kid in the neighborhood. We also ordered the lamp and window valance to go in the nursery. They match the nursery set that we picked out. The lamp and valance came in on Tuesday and of course we've already put them in the room. We still need to paint the nursery and the play room. Kevin has been busy this week sanding my table and chairs that I used as a little girl. We are going to put it in the playroom, along with the extra changing table. No sense in walking up and down the stairs every time we need to change a diaper, right?
