Beach ball fun

Mason and Daddy had fun this weekend with Mason's beach ball sprinkler.

It's been so hot this summer that we have barely gone outside the past two weeks. We have had 7 + days of temperatures in the triple digits. One day this week was 104.

Mason loves to go outside, but even now he says, "I hot Mommy", "Juice". We have been keeping busy. Running errands, reading books, watching Nick Jr., shopping, whatever we can do inside. We're definitely ready for Fall. Unless we are in or near water during the Summer, we prefer the cooler months.

Mason was more interested in moving the "ball" around, than actually playing in the water. He wanted to figure out where the water was coming from. I think he was also a little aggravated too because the water was right at the level of his face.

Well, the fun lasted about 20 minutes and he was done. He wanted juice and wanted to go inside (and he had a stinky hiney). HA!

Grateful

The world of blogging opens up so many doors into people's lives all over the place. It's like 6 degrees of separation. You find a family, which leads to another, and another and so on. In the past two weeks, I ran across a story that has touched me, upset me, made me grateful, opened my eyes, and also made me ask WHY? I will share the story, but I must warn you, it's hard to read or even understand, for that matter.

The story is about a little boy (baby to me) named Tripp with a rare genetic skin disease. Here is a excerpt from their blog called "EB" ing a Mommy".

Tripp was born on May 14, 2009. He was diagnosed with a rare genetic skin disease called "EB." Any type of friction on his skin or mucous membranes causes blisters. They told us he would not live to be a year old. Every day he amazes us by his strength. He is a fighter and with all he has been through, he has never given up. He is the strongest person I know. Tripp wakes up each morning with a smile on his face. Every day spent with him is a blessing. God has a special plan for him. I'm just blessed to be able to witness that plan.

If you look on the right side bar of our blog, you will see his precious hands "Praying 4 Tripp". You can click on this image and it will take you directly to his page. I am amazed by this little boy and his parents. How can he be in so much pain and still have a smile on his face through out the day? I don't want to feel sorry for him and I feel the only thing that I can do is to pray. I do not understand why this little fella was put on this earth only to suffer for the two years he has been alive. My thought is maybe we are not supposed to understand or to even question. We are supposed to learn from him and be grateful for what we have. I am so grateful for my Mason, but I also feel that it's not fair for me to have been blessed with such a beautiful, healthy, baby boy. I will continue to pray for Tripp and his family. As of this moment, he is still fighting; however, he is in the hospital trying to fight yet another infection.

God Bless this family and continue to watch over Tripp.

Independence Day

We celebrated the fourth in VA again this year. Uncle James cooked bacon cheeseburgers on the grill and we had fresh corn and apple pie. A true American dinner. It was yummy!

As much as we hear Mason say "big truck", he was so scared to get in the truck. We tried to sit him in the seat and blow the horn, but he didn't want anything to do with it. He kept saying "down, down". Oh well, maybe next time.

Mason loved this little dog named Lucy. She belongs to Uncle James next door neighbor. They were out of town so we brought Lucy over to play. She was precious.

We had our own personal fireworks on Saturday night after our dinner in Uncle James and Lori's backyard. Mason missed out on that show. He was ready to go to bed after a long day of traveling. Poor fella. He hangs right there with us for as long as he can, but after his bath, he was ready to go night-night.

On Sunday, we headed to downtown Richmond to eat at a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives called The Village Cafe and to do a little shopping. I didn't see the show, but Mom had found it listed on the website. The food was good, but the music was way to loud. We all enjoyed our dinners. We all had something different, from Strombolis, meatloaf, breakfast, pretty much whatever you wanted was on the menu. The beer battered onion rings were very good.

After dinner we headed to the fireworks at Browns Island. Apparently everyone in the local area was there too. The fireworks were amazing. A very good show. We stood on the bridge that goes over the waterway which is also next to the highway. It was a bit strange to stand on a bridge to watch the show, but we had the best view and it was easy getting in and out quickly.

A meal fit for a King.....or a toddler

Mason is such a good eater. Actually, from the very first time we gave him baby food. His favorite then was sweet potatoes, and now it seems to be bananas (and cheese). He calls them "me-nas". This is the only word he has never said correctly. As long as we know what he means, it's ok. HA!

I try to give him a variety of food daily and maybe that has helped, but he really isn't picky. Normally, for lunch he has a meat, a fruit, and cheese. Today he had, turkey, bananas, and cheese. Sometimes we mix it up and have ham or chicken nuggets, or grapes instead of bananas, but we always have cheese. I've tried to not give him the cheese, but he asks for it everyday. Sometimes even for breakfast!

Mason is not crazy about vegetables. He'll eat them, but sometimes we have to sneak them in a bite. Corn is generally not a problem, but green beans or carrots, he could take it or leave it.

Special delivery

Caity just adores Mason and she is always sending him such nice gifts in the mail. This week, she made Mason a tie dye shirt. He is going to wear it this weekend to show his PawPaw Mike.

Mason was excited when he woke up from his nap and saw this bright blue package. I said "look, Mason, Caity sent you something". He says, "oooo, Caity". HA!

Mason said, "Thank you Caity" XXOO

Mason also said, "Thank you for my picture". Mommy put it on the refrigerator and I say "Caity, picture"

Thank you Caity for always thinking of Mason. He feels very special when you send him such nice gifts. Great job on the shirt. It turned out awesome! We love you!
