Show Us Your Life ~ Window Treatments

Hey ya'll.  Let's talk window treatments.  I struggle with what to do with windows.  There are so many options... shutters, blinds, roman shades, drapes, valance, cornice board.  YIKES!  I get so overwhelmed when I have to many options.

Here are our windows in the breakfast area.  It took us a year to figure out what to do with them.  I didn't want to cover them completely because we enjoy looking outside.  We live on a wooded lot with no one behind us, so I'm not worried about privacy.  I talked a little about this project here.  I wish I would have taken more pictures of this project.

First we added linen curtains which still allowed light in our breakfast/kitchen area.

Then we added our DIY cornice board.  This is such large area, we actually used a thin piece of wood for stability and covered it with fabric.  The fabric is actually outdoor fabric, which was not done on purpose, it just happened to be the one we liked and it was cheap!  I really love how it turned out.

What a difference, huh!   The best part is, the whole project cost under $150.

Movin' on...

In the master bedroom we didn't install blinds, but the drapes we have are darkening and work well.

We did install white plantation blinds in the play room since this room is on the front of the house.  So, we just added this cute little valance to add color.  I love this pattern.  The fabric is very nice.  It's thick and durable.  I would actually love to have out door pillows with this fabric.

In Mason's bedroom, we also put up darkening drapes.  They work great.  Especially at nap time.  HA!

We installed a bamboo blind over our garden tub in the master bath.  Eventually, I would like to upgrade this window to a privacy window.

Our topic for next week ~ Show us how you decorate your dining room table/coffee table/side table.

Hope ya'll have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I'm stopping by from Kelly's Korner to check out your window treatments.
I recently changed our master bedroom curtains from tab light blue curtains to chocolate brown blackout. What a positive difference they made.
I still want to purchase something for our patio doors. Maybe I'll get some ideas from my tour!
Great choices on your treatments. I especially love the bamboo shades.

  2. I love all the curtains that you shared! Green is my favorite color!!! Aren't black-out curtains the best with little kiddos?

  4. The use of the variety in window treatments to each of the room made it exciting to look at. You made the right decision in adding linen curtains on the kitchen windows, so that natural lights will come through the room. The drapes in each of the bedrooms work well especially for privacy purposes.

  5. Thank you for sharing this article. I know that window treatments, blinds are a versatile way to add style to a window and control the light that enters a room. There are several types of window blinds in houston to choose from, and each offer their own unique style and design.
