Where did November go?

November is gone and I'm actually posting this in December.  I guess you could say I'm a month behind.  Hey, we have a 6 month old!  You haven't missed too much.  I had my 35th birthday.  Gosh! 35.  Seriously, I don't feel that old and it's just a number right.   We also celebrated Kevin's 35th birthday on December 1st.  For his birthday, he went hunting with my Dad in GA.  Yes, you guessed it.  I was a single Mom for 4 days/nights 24/7.  I must say, I'm pretty proud of myself.  Other than being very tired, I did it and enjoyed spending time with Monkey.

We had Thanksgiving at the Kranz house this year.  It was only us and Grammy and Grampy, so very quiet, but very relaxing.  It was very nice to spend the Holiday at home and not on the road.

What is Mason up to, you ask?  Well, he loves to smile and play.  Now we are eating 2 meals per day plus our bottle of course.  He loves sweet potatos, squash, carrots, applesauce and bananas.

We recently had his 6 month checkup and he is now 15 1/2 lbs. and 26 inches.  So he is actually getting longer rather than wider.  He is still so handsome to us.  I still call him Monkey, but remind him everyday of just how handsome he is.  Mason is such a good baby.  Most of the time he is very content and only fusses when he is sleepy or hungry.  He hasn't quite grasped sitting up by himself yet, but he's getting there.  More than likely, he'll go from sitting to standing right away.  Totally skipping the crawling.  He loves to stand up, of course with you holding him.

He is very curious about everything.  He'll follow you or whomever around the room.  He especially loves watching Bailey and will sometimes reach out to touch him.  For some reason, Bailey is just not interested in Mason at all.  Bailey will walk up to him and smell, but then just walk away.

Mason also enjoys watching TV.  He still likes Blue's Clues.  I think that might be his favorite.  He smiles, coos and bounces during the program.  He just gets so excited thinking that the TV is talking to him.

It's getting close to Christmas and we're very excited.  The tree and decorations are up.  The Pritchett's and Kranz families are coming to our house this year and we're planning a feast.  I'm sure we'll have a great time.  Mason will have lots to watch.  He'll probably wear himself out with all of the excitement.

Discovering new things

As a shower gift, Kevin and I got an activity center for Mason. Well, up to now, we had not opened the box or put it together. We should have done so a month ago. Mason really enjoys sitting in it. He is not able to touch the floor yet, but some how he manages to turn around so that he can see all of the toys. Usually, he'll last about 15 minutes or so and he is ready to move on to something else, but I'm really surprised to see how well he is able to move around and how alert he is playing with all of the toys.

Happy Halloween

We had a great 1st Halloween with Mason. Of course we didn't trick-o-treat, but everyone that came to our house commented on our "little Monkey" being so adorable. Our neighbors brought him candy and a book which was great. So Daddy read the book to Mason and he held his candy. He only lasted about 30 minutes and then decided to take a little nap.

Is it play time?

Mason really enjoys play time. He likes to sit in his bumbo chair or lay on the floor. It doesn't matter as long as he is entertained. Acutally, most of the time he is good at entertaining himself. Just a few random pictures:

Halloween Costume

Mason is a Monkey for his first Halloween. We, of course, think he is adorable. I don't think Mason is to thrilled about the whole idea. Kevin and I took some picutres earlier in the week for our Halloween card. We had to take them in two rounds. The first round was before his bottle. The idea was we were trying to use what daylight we had left. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea.

Pumpkin Patch

We visited Nana and Papa this weekend and they took us to a pumpkin patch. Mason got his very own pumpkin. It was actually pretty chilly that day and for some reason Mason spit up all day long. After the pumpkin patch, we went to tractor supply and Caity and Jacob walked Mason around in his stroller. He was very content shopping. We also vistied with Aunt Amy and Uncle Jeff. Mason had a long day and slept the entire ride home.

4 Month Checkup

Mason had his checkup today (along with shots) and he is doing wonderful. Weighing 14 lbs. and 22 1/2 inches long. He continues to be such a happy baby and is now sleeping through the night. Normally, Mason is in his crib between 8:00/8:30 and sleeps until 5 AM. Kevin and I try to make the most of the time that we have with him in the evenings and of course the weekends are extra special for us.

He is really trying to roll over. He is pushing with one foot and rocks back and forth. I'm sure he'll get there soon. He is babbling, cooing, smiling and loves to put his whole fist in his mouth. He would rather do that sometimes than to have his paci. Mason loves to watch TV. Maybe it's because we have a larger TV and he can see it really well. Although, if Blue's Clues is on, he is hooked for the entire 30 minutes. Strange how at 4 months he is that into it, but he is.

Within in the next few weeks, he'll be ready to start on some cereal and baby food. The doctor said to start with the vegetables first since I'm sure they are less desirable. I'm looking forward to seeing him eat. I'm sure he'll be excited.

His next appointment is at 6 months.

Pumpkins

Mason had his first visit to a pumpkin patch over the weekend. He seemed to be really interested and just kept starring at the pumpkins. He, of course, wanted to pick them up and put them in his mouth. You can see the drool. Too cute.

Mountains

Kevin and I went to Lake Lure, NC for our 7th wedding anniversary. It was definitely a place to visit and not to live. We pretty did everything and saw everything in the 3 days that we were there. We did spend one day at a spa calling Rumbling Bald. It was nice to get massages and sit in the sauna for a while. One of the days we took a boat tour of the lake. Most of it was a history lesson which Kevin loved and the other part the guide showed us where they filmed Dirty Dancing. Pretty cool. Although the area doesn't look anything like what is in the movie. We had a nice relaxing time, but we missed our little boy terribly. I think we were just as excited to get home as we were to go on the trip.

Surprise Email

The day that Kevin and I were leaving for our anniversary trip, I got an email from Mason with the attached pictures.

Mommy - I want you to know I love you very much and will see you soon. Don't worry about me, I have a lot of fun at Grammy's. Love Mason

What a smart boy. I'm such a lucky Mommy!

Anniversary Dinner

We (Kevin, Mason and me) went out to eat for our anniversary. We decided to have a photo shoot before we left. This also marks Mason's 3 month birthday.

Mason still does really well in restaurants; However, on this day, he was ready to leave after 3o minutes or so. Luckily, we were able to eat our dinner. This was my first experience in a restauarant with a crying baby and boy people will start giving you dirty looks.
